Can't say I haven't seen you.
For I saw you just yesterday
In the stolen glances and flushed smiles of
Two kids in my lane.
Or when I heard you in a few chords
That drifted in with the rain, one afternoon
Through my window.
Or when I felt you in the flowing steps of some unknown dancers.
Or when I found you in the words of strangers
Who have lost their hearts, broken or given away.
Or in their joy when they got it back again
Whole and healthy.
I saw you in tears of shared laughter
Brimming with love.
In shy, half smiles and smirky giggles.
And that time when I saw you in a clear night sky,
Fireworks danced with shy stars.
I saw you even in lightning.
In sudden storms and roaring waves.
In falling cherry blossoms and rustling green canopies.
And in the universe that houses in this head.
But alas!
Can't say I have met you either.
